The shards of china used in these broken china drop earrings is genuine Ming china that was found in a shipwreck off the coast of Malaysia near Singapore. Pieces of this Ming china were given to me by a friend who had scuba dived the Portuguese shipwreck. My educated guess based on when the Portuguese were in the spice, tea and silk trading, is that this Ming china is probably at least 350-500 years old.

This pair of earrings has only sterling silver components and there is only one of these pairs of earrings with their specific setting. I set these earrings using a sterling silver bezel strip for the setting around the china and it is on a sterling silver backing with sterling ear post and sterling clutch for the stud.
 
Making the earrings involved torch soldering in multiple stages as each joint was soldered. A fair bit of sawing, sanding and polishing was required to bring out the beauty of the setting. This pair of earrings is numbered at no.55 (unfortunately there's no place to engrave the number without marring the setting) as they are the fifty fifth item of Ming china jewelry that I have created in custom settings for this rare and hard to come by Ming china.
 
This pair of earrings is set on a dainty oval shape and are not huge studs.
 
These earrings will be tastefully gift wrapped in a gift box and tied with an organza ribbon.
